Basically a waste of money, I wouldn't buy this again or encourage others to buy it either. Otherwise I take it off the stand and put it on the table. Just like everyone else, my laptop (unibody Macbook Pro) slips off the stand over the course of a few minutes to a few hours. To the point where I only have it on the stand when I'm sitting right next to it.
There is no slippage and yet the laptop comes off the stand easily. I've had this stand now for almost a month. I'm extremely happy with this product and with Amazon's service. Since the velcro is on the bottom of the laptop, no one ever sees it, even when it is not on the stand. It holds my MacBook Pro at a perfect angle for viewing, and the computer stays nice and cool. Since there has been several comments about laptops slipping down the supports on the Elevator, I simply placed 2 little velcro squares on the highest points of the elevator, and on the appropriate spots on the bottom of my MBP.
It breaks down into 3 pieces for easy storage or travel, but is rock solid while in use. If you are looking for this type of product, I highly recommend it. I have no complaints. I use this with my 13" MacBook and a Targus Laptop Chill Mat, and having the Notebook elevated so that I don't have to look down really helps with my neck strain. An external monitor would be another possible solution, but this was less expensive and works better with my desk space.
Luv's it. I read somewhere how laptops were not staying on and sliding off but I don't see how. My MacBook Pro (15" Unibody) stays rigid and nice on my elevator stand.
I'm afraid to reach underneath it for any reason because my laptop would come crashing down if I accidentally bumped into it while doing so. I'm constantly worried my laptop will fall off of this thing. The Alsop stand might not be as pretty, but it's a third of the price and 10 times more stable and functional. Every couple of hours or so I have to take my laptop off, reposition the entire thing to be stable again, and then put my computer back on top of it.
This thing is a complete waste of money, I cannot discourage people strongly enough from buying it. An absolute and total complete waste of money. You can actually store things beneath it without destabilizing the stand, unlike this one. It is very unstable; the riser arms do not mount solidly in the base, and because they only set into the base at one point, they move around quite easily.
An overpriced POS don't buy it. Buyer beware. Any small bump or impact of your desk will move them from the position they're in and make the entire stand and your laptop vibrating. Further, the top surface is angled down and the surface of the arms is covered with this foam type stuff that does a very poor job of holding a laptop in place, so mine constantly creeps forward a bit at a time; I continually have to push it back into the proper position, and then that causes the arms to flex in the single piece of plastic that holds them together.
